ISLAMABAD:

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi has issued a final notice to Bushra Bibi, wife of former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, regarding allegations of irregularities related to Toshakhana gifts.

Bibi is accused of retaining gifts received during her visits to foreign countries as the prime minister’s wife. Instead of following official protocol by depositing these gifts in the Toshakhana, she purportedly kept them and contributed an amount less than the prescribed value into the national treasury.

The gifts in question include a locket, two rings, two ear tops, and two bracelets received on June 26, 2019. In 2020, she reportedly acquired a diamond-studded gold necklace, ring, bracelet, and ear tops. In 2021, a necklace, earrings, ring, and bracelet were added to the list.

Despite repeated requests for the return of these gifts, primarily jewelry, Bibi has not complied. NAB has now directed her to appear at the NAB Rawalpindi office on December 11 and bring these ornaments with her. Bibi has secured bail until December 13 in this case from the accountability court in Islamabad.
